NOTICE: EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2020 THE MONTCALM COUNTY SHERIFF'S ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE AND JAIL LOBBY WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WITH THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS:
EVERYONE ENTERING INTO EITHER LOBBY WILL BE ENCOURAGED TO WEAR A FACE MASK AND ARE ASKED TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE/CHILDREN COMING INTO THE LOBBY WITH YOU.
DO NOT ENTER EITHER LOBBY IF YOU HAVE COVID-19 SYMPTOMS. WHEN ENTERING EITHER LOBBY EXERCISE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND THE 6 FOOT RULES.
IF THERE ARE MORE THAN 5 (FIVE) PEOPLE IN THE LOBBY WAIT OUTSIDE OR RETURN TO YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL THE LOBBY HAS LESS OCCUPANCY.
GENERAL FACILITY INFORMATION
The current Montcalm County Jail opened on March 1, 2002. The facility was built utilizing the latest innovations in Corrections technology and initially contained 119 beds.
In 2003, an additional 52 beds were added after remodeling an adjoining section of the original jail, bringing the total bed capacity to 181. A second renovation, this time in the new facility was completed in the Fall of 2006, adding another 24 beds. The current total bed count is 205.
The Montcalm County Jail currently employs 17 full-time Corrections Officers and 4 Sergeants.
Information on an inmate's court date/status can be found by calling 989-831-7592. This is an automated system and is updated based on the court actions. If you call and are not hearing updated information/court dates you may wish to call back after 3:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday) Jail Officers also will not know court/hearing status until after 3:00 p.m.
SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION (SOR) may report for verification and address changes Monday – Thursday between the hours of 9:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. SEE ABOVE LOBBY RESTRICTIONS.
WE DO NOT PROCESS SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATIONS ON FRIDAYS.
You may also report to Michigan State Police Post – Lakeview for verification/address changes. If you reside in the City of Greenville you must report to Greenville Department Public Safety for verification/address changes.
