The Board of Canvassers certified the August 6, 2024 election results on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. All resuts are Final.

The Board of Canvassers consists of the following members:

Judy Emmons, Chairperson - Republican

Diane Zakala, Vice Chairperson - Democrat

Diane Fountain, Member - Republican

Kathy Bresnahan, Member -Democrat


Unofficial Results are final at 12:20 a.m. Board of Canvassers will begin the canvass at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 8th

Election Results will be reported as they are brought into the office.  Montcalm County does not use modems to report results, therefore results must be driven into the County Clerk's Office before they are posted.  There are significant drive times for those areas in the far corners of the County.  The polls close at 8:00 p.m., therefore it is not unusual to not see results before 10 p.m.

All results posted to the website on Election Night are UNOFFICIAL.  The Board of Canvassers will meet at 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in the Probate Court Jury Room, 639 N. State Street, Stanton, MI, to begin the canvass.  Results will be certified prior to August 20, 2024.

BECOMING A CANDIDATE:

The filing deadline for Partisan candidates to file for office is Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

Candidates for Countywide Office and County Commissioner file with the County Clerk, 639 N. State Street, Stanton, MI  48888.  

Countywide Offices - Candidate Filing Requirements

County Commissioner seats change to a 4-year term in the 2024 election cycle.  The term of office will be 1/1/25 - 12/31/28.

Precinct Delegate Filing deadline is Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 4:00 p.m with the County Clerk, 639 N. State Street, Stanton, MI  48888.  Candidates for Precinct Delegate must file the Affidavit of Identity for Precinct Delegate only.  There is not a fee to file, nor any petition or campaign finance requirements.
