Materials Management Planning Committee

Michigan's Solid Waste Program has updated with the passage of significant amendments to Part 115, Solid Waste Management, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451. as amended, that became effective on March 29, 2023.  The amendments require that existing county Solid Waste Management Plans be replaced with new Materials Management Plans (MMP) that focus on sustainable materials management approaches, such as recycling and composting, instead of just landfill waste.
