MiFile - Filing Rejections

It is the responsibility of parties filing through MiFile/TruFile to ensure that submissions align with Electronic Filing Standards; filings that do not follow filing standards will be rejected at the expense of the filer. Filers will receive notification through MiFile that a rejection has occurred with the reason. It is the responsibility of the filer to correct the defect of the filing. Standard Rejection Reasons and Solutions is a resource that may assist further. Documents must be legible - documents that are smudged, grainy, pixelated, scanned in a crooked fashion, lack margins, or do not comply with other filing standards will be rejected.

Recommendations for filers: It is recommended that filers utilize forms directly obtained from the Michigan State Court website (https://www.courts.michigan.gov/SCAO-forms/) as those forms are the most up-to-date (outdated forms will be rejected) and can have data entered digitally (including signatures). Non-approved SCAO forms (those created internally or recreated when the SCAO form exists) may not conform with filing standards and as a result are subject to rejection as they may not have the proper field formatting for the MiFile database. It is also recommended that filers print to PDF or save to PDF rather than printing and scanning documents as printing may result in filings appearing grainy, smudged, or pixelated, or documents scanned in a crooked fashion. Following these recommendations will lead to fewer filing rejections.

REMEMBER: Documents submitted through MiFile are processed to become the OFFICIAL court record - it is expected that filers treat their filings as such. Judges, Magistrates, judicial staff, and parties to the case(s) will be viewing the filings and supporting documents electronically and they must be able to be read clearly and printed clearly when needed. Please ensure that you have reviewed your items prior to submission; the Court will not make exceptions.
